About Me

My name is Jan Mainnie. I live at home with my husband Darrin, and four children, and my 6 year old Working Cocker Spaniel Paddy.
Brought up on a working farm, I was surrounded by animals, and never dreamt that I would one day be working as a dog walker.
After leaving school, I spent 12 years working at the Nat West Bank. I left when my second child was born, and when my youngest went to school, I decided it was time to go back to work. Not wanting to return to the bank, and having spent many years walking my own dog with a well known and exceptionally experienced dog walker here in Edinburgh – Christina McMurray, I decided it was time for me to go it alone. So I set up Whistles Dog Walking Services and 5 years later, here I am – doing the most enjoyable and rewarding job in the world!

I have completed Disclosure Scotland and my certificate can be viewed if desired.

Recently I attended a Dog First Aid course
